Muscat – Implementing Royal Directives of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik to accelerate repair work of infrastructure damaged by recent rains which resulted in overflowing wadis in some governorates, the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology (MTCIT) floated several tenders on Wednesday.

‘The tenders have been floated in coordination with the committee tasked with accelerating the repair of damages caused by recent torrential rains and flooded wadis in some governorates,’ MTCIT stated.

The tenders will be awarded to companies specialised in road projects by the end of September.

“The tenders are for repair of damaged roads in North Batinah, South Batinah, North Sharqiyah, Musandam and parts of Dakhliyah,” Khamis Mohammed al Shamakhi, Undersecretary for Transport, said.

Musandam bore the brunt of the adverse weather conditions, following damages in Wadi Sahtan, Wadi Bani Aouf and Wadi Mastal. The road linking the wilayats of Nakhal and Al Awabi in South Batinah was also damaged. He informed that repair works will include maintenance of the Batinah Road.
