Nizwa – Nizwa University has developed a new antifungal formula that has proved efficient in eliminating Candida Auris infection in a two-year study.

It was developed in cooperation with several international universities and medical research centres in the United States, Europe and Brazil.

Dr Abdullah Mohammed al Hatmi, assistant professor in the Natural and Medical Sciences Research Centre, Nizwa University, informed that the study is the first of its kind in tackling Candida Auris infection.

The study was prompted by an increase in cases of Candida Auris infection in the last ten years in many countries, including Oman.
