ROP rescues 15 expats stranded at sea


Muscat – The Royal Oman Police (ROP) rescued 15 foreigners after their boat sank in a sea in Dhofar.

In a statement, ROP said, ‘Dhofar Coast Guard Police managed to evacuate 15 people of Asian nationalities to the port of Salalah after their boat sank in the sea in the Dhofar governorate.

Meanwhile, four infiltrators have been arrested by the ROP for possessing narcotic substances in Dhofar. ‘In two separate cases, the Dhofar Governorate Police Command, in cooperation with the Special Task Forces of Salalah Police Unit, managed to arrest four people of Arab and Asian nationalities on charges of possessing narcotic substances with the intention of trafficking,’ ROP statement said.

It added that it seized quantities of crystal drug, hashish and psychotropic substances. ‘The legal procedures are being completed against them,’ it stated.
