Leadership development programme launched for middle-admin roles

Muscat – The Royal Academy of Management launched ‘National Programme for Developing Leaders and Future Foresight’ at an event held on Wednesday. The programme aims to prepare national leaders to face the rapid changes and develop leadership skills in the middle administration roles in the state’s administrative apparatus.

The Royal Academy of Management – established via Royal Decree 2/2022 on January 11, 2022 – has the honorary patronage of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik.

The event also saw the launch of the first ‘Certified Leadership Trainer Training’ programme with participation of 26 qualified Omani trainers from the public and private sectors.

The programme aims to form a community of Omani trainers who will transfer knowledge and skills, and administrative and leadership experiences in line with the academy’s vision to localise global knowledge and expertise in the area of leadership.

Dr Ali bin Qassim al Lawati, president of the academy, informed that the Certified Leadership Trainer Training programme is part of the first package of initiatives that the academy will launch gradually with the aim of developing and empowering Omani professionals.

“The programme will last ten months and is based on blended education, through which middle-management professionals in the public sector will benefit,” Lawati said.

He informed that the programme is being delivered in partnership with Eller Executive Education of University of Arizona, a top ranked provider of custom leadership development and executive education programmes. “This ensures the transfer of latest skills and experiences in the field of leadership training to national cadres.”

Karthik Kannan, dean of College of Management, University of Arizona, said that the university is proud to partner with the Royal Academy of Management to design and implement the Certified Leadership Trainer Training programme within the National Programme for Developing Leaders and Future Foresight.
