Musandam – Several senior officials visited the Governorate of Musandam on Sunday to inspect the damage caused by the recent heavy rains.
During the visit, H E Sultan bin Salem al Habsi, Minister of Finance, and H E Sayyid Ibrahim bin Saeed al Busaidi, Governor of Musandam, urged the relevant authorities to restore basic services that have been affected at the earliest.
The delegation was updated by the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology (MTCIT) about the extent of damages to certain roads and details of others that have been reopened to traffic following repairs.
Alternate routes have been opened for some roads where damage is extensive, with plans afoot to repair these as soon as possible. Work is on for restoration of roads in Madha, Lima, Khasab, Dibba and Kumzar.
During the visit, the delegates met a number of citizens whose properties were damaged and heard their demands. They were accompanied by H E Dr Ali bin Amer al Shaidani, Undersecretary for Communications and Information Technology in MTCIT, and H E Dr Muhammad bin Ali al Mutawa, Undersecretary for Urban Planning in the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning.
