Salalah – OQ Group has launched an awareness campaign to ensure and protect the safety and wellbeing of residents and tourists against any risks associated with gas pipelines in Dhofar Governorate during the Khareef season.

The Campaign was launched under the patronage of H E Dr Ahmed bin Mohsen al Ghassani, chairman of Dhofar Municipality, in the presence of a number of key officials in the governorate.

In his speech, Ahmed bin Said al Azkawi, CEO Upstream at OQ, stated, “OQ – the Global Integrated Energy Group – with its diversified investments in the fields of oil and gas exploration and production, refineries, petrochemical plants, and alternative energy, pays special attention to the health, safety and environment of all aspects related to its operations. This interest comes as part of the group’s commitment to comply with local and international standards and legislations as OQ abides by the strictest health, safety and environmental regulations across its plants and locations.

“The group also mandates its employees and contractors to comply with all health, safety and environmental requirements and incorporate such compliance as one of the basic conditions for working with the group.”

Al Azkawi further said, “The launch of this awareness campaign in Dhofar Governorate is part of the commitment made by the group to enhance safety and security in neighbourhoods and villages where there is an extension of gas pipelines.”

It’s noteworthy that the pipelines of more than 4,000km that belong to OQ Gas Network supply gas to power plants, factories, and economic zones in the Sultanate of Oman, in addition to supplying homes with cooking gas.
