More rains expected; CDAA calls for caution

Muscat – With more rains expected in several governorates on Wednesday, the Civil Defence and Ambulance Authority (CDAA) called on all to adhere to guidelines and ensure safety of life and property.

In a statement CDAA said, ‘Due to heavy rains expected on Wednesday in the governorates of North Batinah, South Batinah, Dakhliyah, Buraimi, Dhahirah and North Sharqiyah in the afternoon and evening, the authority calls on everyone to adhere to safety guidelines.’

The Directorate General of Meteorology forecast the continuation of formation of cumulus clouds on Tuesday and Wednesday on the Al Hajar Mountains and adjacent areas with chances of thunderstorms of varying intensity. ‘This may lead to overflowing wadis, so exercise caution,’ it said.

The Met Office added that there are chances of rain of varying intensity in Dhofar and parts of the central desert area on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, the wilayats of Mahdha and Al Buraimi in Buraimi governorate, Dhank, Ibri and Yanqul in Dhahirah, Nakhl, Al Awabi and Rustaq in South Batinah, and parts of Dakhliyah and North Sharqiyah governorates received moderate to heavy rainfall.
