Muscat – Heavy rains lashed Dhofar on Wednesday, with chances of the inclement weather extending to Thursday. Al Wusta and Al Hajar mountains are also likely to witness thunderstorms and rainfall of varying intensity.

An official from the Directorate General of Meteorology said, “Rains at this time of the year are a normal phenomena. Due to this, the temperature will also be affected around the country. In Muscat, the maximum and minimum temperatures will be 35°C and 29°C, respectively.”

He added that visibility will be significantly affected in the coastal areas, in the southwest part of Dhofar in particular.

The Civil Aviation Authority urged all to take precautions during thunderstorms and stay away from low-lying areas and avoid venturing into the sea.

“The rains and clouds will gradually move away to southwest in two days and chances of rains will be less after that,” the official said.
