Muscat – Consumer Protection Authority (CPA) has launched an initiative called ‘Indicators of Consumer Empowerment in the Sultanate of Oman’. The first-of-its-kind initiative aims to make consumers aware of their rights and obligations.
The initiative explores aspects like consumption practices, the measurement of consumer interaction, the extent to which consumers share experiences, related problems and troubleshooting and the efforts of the CPA to upgrade the services it offers to society as per global standards. It constitutes a cornerstone in investigating consumer opinion through CPA’s cooperation with the National Centre of Statistics and Information.
CPA is scheduled to conduct an opinion poll involving 2,500 citizens and residents, who will be interviewed over telephone. Poll participants will be picked up randomly from the age group of 18 years and older from all parts of Oman.
The initiative is expected to achieve a set of goals, namely to propel the march of economic development, eliminate negative market practices, promote entrepreneurship, renew related administrative legislations and protect the rights of consumers and traders alike.
