Muscat – The number of arrivals across Oman’s airports has recorded a significant increase of 100 percent by the end of April 2022 in comparison to the same period in 2021.
According to the statistics of the National Centre for Statistics and Information, the number of departing passengers increased by 69 per cent in the same period. The total number of arrivals, departures and transit passengers reached 2,324,007.
A total of 15,261 international flights arrived and departed through Oman’s airports, which is 89 per cent higher than last year April.
At the same time, 3,778 domestic flights arrived and departed from airports such as Muscat, Salalah, Suhar and Duqm, up by 25 percent.
International air traffic through Muscat International Airport witnessed an increase in the number of flights by 82.3 percent, and the total number of international passengers (arrivals, departures and transfers) increased by 91.4 percent to 1,723,632, against 900,707 passengers received by April 2021.
The number of international flights (departing and arriving) from Sohar Airport reached 276 by the end of April 2022, while the number of passengers on international flights (incoming and outgoing) reached 25,065.
Duqm Airport recorded a 9.7 per cent increase in the number of domestic flights (departing and arriving) to reach 226 flights at the end of April 2022, compared to 206 flights by April 2021.
Among the nationalities using Muscat International Airport, Indians (111,226 passengers) topped the highest number of passengers on departing and arriving flights through the airport, this year, followed by the Bangladesh nationals (42,145) and Pakistanis (29,228).
