Muscat – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has expressed Oman’s sympathy with Afghanistan over the devastating earthquake that struck southeast Afghanistan on Wednesday.

In a statement, the ministry said, ‘The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expresses its sincere condolences and sympathy to the families of the victims and the people of Afghanistan, and wished a speedy recovery to the injured.’

A 6.1 magnitude earthquake struck the southeast of Afghanistan near the border with Pakistan on Wednesday. It is reported that it had killed 1000 people and injured hundreds more.
