Muscat – Visitors to Salalah for khareef will have a new attraction to experience. National Development and Investment (Asaas), which is implementing the Al Hafa Waterfront Development Project in Salalah, has stated that it will open a part of the project on trial basis in August.
According to a statement, Asaas is working to open the walkway and some shops on the waterfront in August that will add ‘a wonderful experience’ to visitors to the area.
‘The trial opening will give visitors to the Governorate of Dhofar during khareef season a glimpse of the project. According to a planned schedule, project completion is expected during the first quarter of 2023,’ Asaas stated.
The work carried out is within a usufruct agreement that the company signed with the government, which stipulates the establishment and development of a souq in the Hafa area of Salalah.
‘As per the terms of the agreement, the company has developed a framework for the project that was agreed upon with the relevant authorities, including the establishment of a heritage market inspired by the architectural style of the old neighbourhood and the market area with the aim of highlighting the historical role of this commercial area while preserving the identity, heritage and culture of the area.’
