President Samia briefed on investment opportunities in economic, industrial and free zones
Muscat – President Samia Suluhu Hassan of the United Republic of Tanzania was briefed on the investment potential in economic, industrial and free zones around ports in Oman.
A presentation was made by the Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones (OPAZ) at Al Alam Palace Guesthouse on Tuesday for President Samia.
Ahmed Hassan al Dheeb, Deputy Chairman of OPAZ, said that the meeting provided an opportunity to respond to the queries related to investing in these zones and means of cooperation between the two countries in the fields of port services and free zones.
He informed that a Tanzanian investment in a free zone is currently being looked into, which will trigger the start of several other projects between the two countries.
The meeting was attended by H E Dr Rahma Ibrahim al Mahrouqi, Minister of Higher Education, Research and Innovation and Head of the Mission of Honour, H E Saud Hilal al Shidhani, Ambassador of Oman to Tanzania, H E Abdallah Abasi Kilima, Ambassador of Tanzania to Oman, and officials from both sides.
In another engagement at Al Alam Palace on Tuesday, the Tanzanian President met women chief executives from the public and private sectors in Oman and Tanzania and discussed the need of strengthening cooperation in various areas. More specifically, the meeting explored the role of women in development and in boosting trade and investment exchange.
On the agenda were discussions on empowering women at the international level and in leadership roles in the fields of business, economy and policy-making, besides deliberations on cooperation between Oman and Tanzania.
