Salalah – A 1.8km zipline from the top of a mountain to Atana Khasab Hotel in Musandam will start operating in the last quarter of 2022, the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism has announced.
Nofal bin Mohammad al Kamzari, assistant director of Heritage and Tourism Department in Musandam, said, “The ministry is working on the completion of the 1,800m zipline project. It is expected to be operational in Q4 of 2022. This project is a standout addition to the adventure tourism infrastructure of the governorate.”
Kamzari informed that a road leading to the zipline site is complete and construction work of the project has reached 65 per cent completion.
About other tourism projects in the governorate, he said the ministry has inspected several sites in the wilayat of Madha to develop a plan for the establishment of mini-tourist oases. “We have organised meetings with managers of tourism companies to discuss the development of tourism and urged them to be ready with promotional campaigns for the next tourist season.”
The ministry has also signed usufruct contracts for the establishment of three hotels, two in the wilayat of Bukha and one in Madha, to increase the number of hotel rooms in Musandam.
According to Dr Saeed bin Humaid al Harthy, Wali of Khasab, the governorate will witness large investments in the coming years. He confirmed that RO3.5mn will be spent on various development projects in the governorate this year. “One project is the establishment of a park by Asas Company, and coordination is underway to establish a hotel on Bassa beach.”
Harthy added that investors interested in the governorate, especially in the tourism sector, are offered several privileges and incentives.
