Muscat – Muscat Municipality has stated that new permits for hairdressing salons and women’s beauty centres in residential-cum-commercial and commercial buildings will be issued to only businesses operating on the ground floor.

In a statement, the civic body said, ‘New licences for hairdressing and women’s beauty salons or similar activities in multi-storey buildings will be restricted to the ground floor.’

Licences of those operating on higher floors will be renewed provided that ownership is not transferred or reassigned to others.

‘The decision is based on Muscat Municipality’s endeavours to organise licences for women’s beauty salons in multi-storey buildings in a manner that serves the public interest without affecting the people living in these buildings,’ it said.
