Muscat – H H Sayyid Bilarab bin Haitham al Said presided over the opening ceremony of Educational Initiatives Forum – Towards Achieving Oman Vision 2040 on Wednesday.
The two-day forum is organised by the Ministry of Education, represented by the Directorate-General of Education in the Governorate of Muscat.
The forum aims to keep pace with Oman Vision 2040 and strengthen the foundations of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, namely artificial intelligence, in the country.
It also presents an exhibition of the most prominent educational initiatives in some schools in the governorate while encouraging others to adopt and develop pioneering systems.
H H Sayyid Bilarab toured the exhibition accompanying the forum. Sixteen educational initiatives were selected from among 126 running in schools in Muscat in the areas of innovation, technology, academics and community partnership.
On the first day, presentations were made on six educational initiatives; the remaining will be showcased on Thursday.
The opening ceremony was held at Al Bustan Palace, a Ritz-Carlton Hotel, in the presence of ministers and members of State Council and Shura Council.
On the occasion, Dr Ali al Jahwari, Director-General of the Directorate-General of Education in the Governorate of Muscat, said, “The ministry has created various training programmes for teachers and provided them with appropriate opportunities for creativity and innovation, as well as finding modern educational methods that help them perform their duties to the fullest.
“The Directorate-General of Education in the Governorate of Muscat intends to fuel the spirit of competitiveness in order to create a fertile educational environment for innovation and continuous renewal. This two-day forum is a summary of the most successful educational initiatives applied that have proved their effectiveness in imparting education.”
