International Museum Day: Free entry to museums in Oman

Muscat – To mark International Museum Day, observed on or around May 18 every year, museums in Oman will open their doors to visitors for free on Wednesday.

According to the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism (MHT), visitors are welcome to visit Natural History Museum, Omani-French Museum, Fatah al Khair Center and Frankincense Land Museum.

‘Oman participates in the celebration of the International Museum Day. On this occasion, the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism announces the opening of its museums free of charge to visitors,’ MHT stated.

Sultan’s Armed Forces Museum in Muscat will also celebrate the day allow entry of visitors for free from 8am to 5pm on Wednesday.

The museum has an extensive collection related to Oman’s military history; with displays of weapons (such as guns and cannons), service uniforms, an external display of military vehicles, military music instruments, medals, and a jet aircraft ejection seat and a parachute on display.
