Muscat – Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) has urged companies engaged in the import of goods to follow certain guidelines and make proper background checks before starting a business with foreign firms.
A statement issued by OCCI, said, ‘The chamber warns the Omani companies of the need to be careful and attentive during commercial transactions with companies outside the sultanate, specially in case of imports.’
OCCI stated that Omani companies should search and investigate the background details of the companies from e-business websites and find a proper channel of communication with them.
‘The companies must first conclude a commercial contract (import contract) and ratify it from the approved authorities before any financial procedures, with the necessity of not transferring any money except after completing the authentication process.’
The Omani firms engaged in imports should coordinate with OCCI to ensure that the company they want to deal with has obtained its membership with the corresponding chamber.
