Muscat – A professor from Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) has been awarded one of the most prestigious teaching awards in the world. Dr Mohammad bin Hamoud al Amri, professor of Art and Education and head of Curriculum and Instruction Department at SQU, received the 2022 Edwin Ziegfeld Award for his efforts in the field of art education earlier this month. According to ONA, he is the first Arab to receive the award.
The award is given by the International Society for Education Through Art (InSEA), a non-governmental organisation and official partner of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (Unesco).
“I’m so happy to receive the Edwin Ziegfeld Award. It is a great honour to be counted among the recipients of this award. Thank you InSEA for finding my accomplishments to be of significance.
“This award makes me believe more in my role as a leader and my big responsibility towards InSEA and worldwide art education communities,” Amri wrote in his LinkedIn account.
Amri has served as a visiting scholar at Harvard Graduate School of Education, Harvard University, and director of The Filed Experiences and Student Teaching Unit, SQU.
