Muscat – The Majlis A’Shura Services Committee hosted members of Al Gharimineen Charitable Association on Tuesday in line with its efforts to discuss issues related to the local community and public interest.
The committee was briefed on the objectives and activities of the association.
The Majlis A’Shura Services Committee reaffirmed that it is committed to supporting all social, economic and charitable projects that benefit Omanis.
Yousef bin Mohammed al Maamari, a member of the association, described it as a national model in charity work in the sultanate and the first of its kind regionally. “The association aims to pay off bank debts of Omani citizens, while spreading solidarity throughout the country,” Maamari said.
Supporting his statement, Dr Haider bin Abd al Lawati, another member of the association, said that the association seeks to repay the loans of citizens unable to do so, increasing financial liquidity in the market and increasing financial activities of banks.
“By paying off debt, the association relieves psychological and economic burden and pressure resulting from these loans,” Lawati said.
