Muscat – MCCC Yellow U13 beat ISWK-U13 A by 8 wickets in the final of their Oman Cricket (OC) Junior Season 2021/22 on March 5, 2022.
After winning the toss and electing to bat first, ISWK made 147/9 in 20 overs. Opener Yuvraj Rai top scored with a magnificent 60. His 68-run partnership with Azeel Basheer Ahmed powered ISWK to 114/2 after 14 overs – leaving them well poised to explode over the final 6. Instead, they imploded, losing 7 wickets for the addition of 30 runs.
Kriv Rajesh Patel and Shravan Sharat Kurup picked up three wickets apiece for MCCC.
In response, the MCCC Yellow side made a tricky job at hand look exceedingly simple, chasing down the target with 16 balls to spare. The task was achieved, thanks to an enormous 137-run third wicket stand between Kriv Rajesh Patel and Mathew Samuel Kevin. The former continued his memorable day on the field with a blistering unbeaten knock of 74 runs in 49 balls and deservedly took home the player of the match award.
Mathew Samuel Kevin finished on a well-made 59.
In the post-season awards ceremony held after the game, Paul Martin, the Logistics manager of Mazoon Dairy, presented Kriv Rajesh Patel of MCCC Yellow with the best batsman award, Nithin Jayarajan of Indian School Muscat with the best bowler award and Arsh Javed Tanashah of Indian School Wadi Kabir with the best all-rounder award.
Kriv Rajesh Patel was the top scorer in the league, making 465 runs in 5 matches. Nithin Jayarajan picked up 6 wickets in the same period.
