Muscat – In proof of Oman’s commitment towards tackling corruption and detecting financial and administrative violations, the State Audit Institution (SAI) stated on Sunday that it recovered RO580mn during the Ninth Five-Year Plan (2016-2020).

A statement issued by the institution said that it has released its annual report for 2020. ‘The total amount collected and recovered during the Ninth Five-Year Plan was RO580mn. The institution dealt with 207 cases in coordination with the Public Prosecution, some of which have already seen judicial rulings, while others are under litigation.’

It stated that the report aims to enhance transparency in order to serve the development process in the sultanate.

According to SAI, the total number of complaints and reports from 2011 to 2020 was 4,544, of which 94 per cent were dealt with. It added that the number of complaints and reports in 2020 increased 51 per cent over 2019.

The number of administrative and financial complaints were 2,767; delay in completing transactions – 1,063; grievances of employees – 232; abuse of authority – 116; failure to award tenders – 122; and 244 others.
