Muscat – In its efforts to empower Omani women and support productive families, the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources (MAFWR), in cooperation with Omani Women’s Association, has launched an initiative in the wilayat of Shinas, North Batinah.
The training programme will support women in the field of agriculture, livestock and fisheries activities through home-based projects, according to Mohammed bin Sultan al Habsi, director of Department of Agricultural and Fisheries and Water Resources in Shinas.
The programme targets 21 women who will receive both theoretical knowledge and practical training necessary to engage in these activities.
“The programme saw the participation of beneficiary groups, including jobseekers and housewives. The programme included training in food processing, such as drying fruits and vegetables, making jam and pickles, making dairy products, packaging dates and canning sardines,” Habsi said.
