Friday prayers allowed with 50 per cent capacity: Supreme Committee

9 Feb 2022 By OUR CORRESPONDENT

Muscat – The Supreme Committee has allowed Friday prayers with 50 per cent capacity in mosques. It has also allowed organisers to hold conferences, exhibitions and mass gatherings with 70 per cent capacity at venues. Attendance in government offices will return to 100 per cent as opposed to 50 per cent announced two weeks earlier.

In a statement, the Supreme Committee said it is imperative for all to abide by the conditions it has set to engage in these activities, especially not exceeding 70 per cent capacity at venues of conferences, exhibitions and mass gatherings.

The committee informed that the Ministry of Education will issue a statement on a decision on school education for the second semester of the 2021/2022 academic year.

It emphasised the need for government and private institutions – including malls, restaurants, other commercial activities and organisers of cultural, sports and other group events – to ensure entry to vaccinated individuals only.

The committee also urged all citizens aged 12 and older to take a booster dose against COVID-19.
