Muscat – The Ministry of Health (MoH) on Wednesday announced 2,356 new infections registered within the past 24 hours, taking the total number of COVID-19 cases registered in Oman to 359,256.
Statistical analyst Ibrahim bin Ahmed al Maimani revealed that from the beginning of February 1 to 8, Oman reported 18,000 new COVDI-19 cases. “We may reach or exceed the previous record of 51,000 cases per month, which was witnessed in the month of July 2021,” he said.
Two new deaths were also reported on Wednesday. ‘The total number of COVID-19 related deaths reported in the country now stands at 4,190,’ an MoH statement said.
The ministry added that 1,726 new cases have recovered, bringing the total number of recoveries to 331,473.
‘There were 114 new hospitalisations in the past 24 hours. The total number of COVID-19 patients currently in health institutions is now 432, including 71 in intensive care units,’ it stated.
