His Majesty receives Belgian King and Queen, hold official talks

Muscat – His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik on Thursday accorded an official welcome ceremony for King Phillippe Leopold Louis Marie and his wife Queen Mathilde Marie Christine Ghislaine d’Udekem d’Acoz, who arrived in Muscat on an official three-day visit to Oman.

As part of his visit, an official session of talks was held between His Majesty the Sultan and King Phillippe at Al Alam Palace in which various aspects of common concern were taken up in a manner that serves the interests of the two countries and realises their aspirations for a more prosperous future.

The talks reviewed the good relations binding the sultanate and the Kingdom of Belgium. The talks also touched on the fruitful cooperation between the two countries in various spheres which serve the interest of the Omani and Belgian friendly peoples. They also exchanged views on several matters and topics of common interest.

The Belgian monarchs are accompanied by an official delegation comprising Sophie Wilmès, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Tinne Van der Straeten, Minister of Energy, Pol De Witte, Secretary General of the Household of the King of the Belgian, Jeroen Cooreman, Director-General for Bilateral Affairs, Dominque Minior, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium to the Sultanate of Oman, and Machteld Fostier, Secretary to the Queen of the Belgians, and Leo Peeters, Director of Economic Interests.
