International showjumping event on Jan 28-29

Muscat – A total of 110 horse riders, representing 12 countries, will compete in the second round of Oman Masters International Showjumping Championship, which will be organised by Mojo Equestrian Centre, Barka, on January 28 and 29.

Oman Equestrian Association made the announcement at a press conference held on the Olympic Committee and Sports Associations premises in Ghubra, Muscat, on Wednesday.

Khalid Mohammed al Saifi, director of Equestrian Activities Department – Oman Equestrian Association, said that the one-star championship will be held in partnership with private stables, both local and international.

Saifi explained that the association accords significance to Olympic sports, notable showjumping. He welcomed the competitors and wished them an enjoyable experience.

Hassan Mahboob Hashmani, CEO of the showjumping championship, said that the event is seeing an increase in participating countries – Egypt, Lebanon, Jordan, Britain, United States of America, the Czech Republic, the Netherlands, Canada, Italy, Iraq and Morocco, besides Oman.

Also addressing the press conference, Majid Hamad al Hassani, technical director of the event, informed that the championship paves the way for an Arab competition in November 2022.
