Oman-Bahrain Sports Day: Sayyid Theyazin crowns Mussanah event winners

Muscat – His Highness Sayyid Theyazin bin Haitham al Said, Oman’s Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth, in the presence of His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Youth and Sports Council, President of the Public Sports Authority and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, crowned the winners of the triathlon at the Oman-Bahrain Sports Day event held in Mussanah on Saturday.

Apart from triathlon, in which 75 males and females participated, the event also included paragliding and capoeira.

In the male category, the first three places went to the Kingdom of Bahrain, where Omar Abdullah came in first, Abdul Rahman Mubarak second and Mohammed Mubarak won the third place.

In the female category, the first three places also went to the Kingdom of Bahrain.

Samira Zaid al Bitar took first place, Fatima Abdul Mohsen al Muhaimid came second, and Maryam Mansour al Areedh ranked third.

The Oman-Bahrain Sports Day event comes within the framework of the strong brotherly relations that bind the two countries and to enhance partnership and cooperation in the sports field.

His Excellency Dr Abdul Rahman Sadiq Askar, CEO of the Public Sports Authority in the Kingdom of Bahrain, stressed the importance of holding such sports events that would contribute to developing the participants’ experiences and competition.

He pointed out that cooperation in the field of sports between the Sultanate of Oman and the Kingdom of Bahrain will continue at all levels, all aspects – technical, administrative or developmental.

Oman, Bahrain sign sports programme pact

Oman and the Kingdom of Bahrain signed an executive programme in the field of sports for the years 2022-2025 with the aim of encouraging the exchange of sports experiences.

The agreement was signed by His Highness Sayyid Theyazin bin Haitham al Said, Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth and His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Youth and Sports Council and President of the General Authority Sports and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee.

It seeks to adopt joint sports programmes that will contribute to the development of the sports scene between the two countries.
