12 Jan 2022 By OUR CORRESPONDENT

Muscat – The Council of Ministers has approved to extend the disbursement of job security benefit and monthly subsidy to Omanis who were terminated from their services in Oman and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.

The Government Communication Centre has stated that the period for disbursing the job security benefit and acceptance of late applications will be until the end of June 2022.

There will also be an extension of the monthly subsidy disbursement for those who were terminated from their services in other GCC countries in civil, military or private sectors from March 2020 and did not join work until May 25, 2021. The monthly subsidy payment for this category will continue until the end of June 2022.

This is in addition to disbursing a monthly subsidy to Omanis working in GCC countries in civil, military and private sectors whose services were terminated in the period starting from May 26, 2021 and did not join work until the end of the year 2021, as per the conditions established for entitlement to the subsidy for the first time.

The subsidy will be paid from the date of submitting the application until the end of June 2022.

Also, it was decided to postpone the application of Article 12 of the job security system, which included the need for the subscription period to not be less than 12 months for entitlement to the benefit in November 2021. This article will be implemented starting November 1, 2022.
