Muscat – January 2022 will see the official opening of four mega projects worth over RO400mn, according to the Secretariat General of National Celebrations (SGNC).
“As part of its efforts to celebrate the 51st National Day, the Secretariat General of National Celebrations will celebrate the opening of four projects, valued at RO431 mn, of diverse sectors in January 2022,” an SGNC official said.
According to the official, on January 16, Oman Investment Authority will inaugurate a liquefied petroleum gas project worth RO325mn in Salalah, Dhofar, under the patronage of H H Sayyid Theyazin bin Haitham al Said, Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth. This project will supports the long-term objectives of the Government of Oman in terms of revenue generation, economic development and job creation.
“SGNC will also celebrate the official opening of Avani Hotel in Seeb on January 17 under the patronage of Issam bin Saud al Zadjali, chairman of Muscat Municipality. The project cost RO22mn. The hotel will have 206 rooms, hotel apartments and luxury suites,” the official informed.
“On January 23, H E Salim bin Nasser al Aufi, Undersecretary in the Ministry of Energy and Minerals, will officiate the opening of a calcined petroleum coke plant in Sohar Free Zone. The project is worth RO64mn with a production capacity of 500,000 tonnes per year, which can be increased in later stages. It will help add value to the sizable amounts of petroleum coke currently being generated by refineries in Oman.”
On January 6, Oman International Hospital (OIH), was inaugurated under the auspices of H E Dr Ahmed al Sa’eedi, Minister of Health. Built at a cost of RO20mn, Oman’s newest multi-super speciality hospital is now fully operational. With five Centres of Excellence, specialist doctors and support staff from Oman and across the globe, state-of-the-art facilities and technologically advanced equipment, OIH is billed as the newest ‘Healthcare Destination’ for the people of Oman.
In November 2021, Oman Investment Authority announced the opening of 13 national projects valued at approximately at RO3.5bn.
The projects cover a number of key sectors, including energy, food security, manufacturing, mining, health and tourism.
The authority confirmed that the projects include the Liwa Plastic Industries Complex in Port of Sohar, the Al Bashayer integrated project, Ibri Solar Power Plant, Al Morooj Dairy, a mining project in the wilayat of Liwa, the Karwa Bus Factory (a partnership between Oman and Qatar), and Nasim Resort Project in Jebel Akhdar.
