Muscat – Al Rahma Association has launched an initiative – called Sanid – to support low-income families.

Speaking to Muscat Daily, an official of Al Rahma Association informed that the initiative targets people in the Governorate of Muscat with salaries of less than RO325 who do not have any other source of income.

“The initiative aims to provide aid in various forms, including food worth RO30 for families and a monthly sum of RO30 for orphans. They will also benefit from the services of a free charity store providing clothes, cooking utensils, vegetables, fruits and furniture. It will support undergra- duate students in their last academic year, and help families pay outstanding dues, including rent, monthly installments and utility bills,” the official said.

The association opened registration for beneficiaries of the initiative starting December 2021 for a three-month period ending in February 2022.

“Needy families should go to the Zakat Committee or the charitable team affiliated to their area to register in the initiative. Forms of the registered families will be sent to the association for necessary action and provision of assistance according to the family’s need,” the official informed.

“Those who wish to support the initiative can do so through donations to Al Rahma’s account, the electronic portal of charities, Talabat, or by donating cash at the association’s headquarters in Al Khoudh in Seeb.”

According to the official, since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, Al Rahma has launched more than 12 initiatives to support needy families and alleviate its impact on them.

It distributed RO100,000 and more than 280 laptops among students, and maintained air conditioning and heating devices for more than 500 families in the areas affected by Cyclone Shaheen.

“The Relief and Emergency Committee of the association recently visited the wilayat of Nakhl to determine the damage caused by Al Azm low pressure which is expected to last until Wednesday. The visit aimed to help the people there.”

“Anyone can donate to support the association. Al Rahma accepts any sum of money. We can be reached at 97553348 or 93616581,” the official said.
