Muscat – H H Sayyid Theyazin bin Haitham bin Tarik al Said, Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth, announced the establishment of Youth Centre on Wednesday.
A statement issued by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, said that the minister issued a decision to this effect due to the importance of the role of youth in nation-building. ‘The centre will be an incubator for developing the capabilities of youth, discovering their talents and nurturing their creativity. The launch of the centre coincides with the country’s celebrations of the 51st National Day, and is in line with the aspirations of the youth and the Oman Vision 2040.’
Announcing the centre, H H Sayyid Theyazin said, “Establishment of this centre is one of the initiatives of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth aimed at developing an integrated system of modern facilities in all governorates capable of embracing young people and developing their capabilities and discovering their talents.”
In a statement, the Ministry of Economy (MoE) said that the establishment of the Youth Centre is in implementation of the strategic programme Youth Sector Governance and Regulation and part of the Youth Sector Priority in the tenth Five-Year Plan. ‘It aims to improve Vision 2040 indicators, in particular Youth Development Index.’
MoE’s statement added that ‘the objective of the Youth Sector Governance and Regulation programme is to build an ecosystem of policies, legislation and strategies for the youth’.
The Youth Centre will also endeavour to achieve other strategic objectives such as promoting youth participation and contribution to national and international decision-making, and developing young professional leaders who can contribute to nation-building.
‘The centre will help create a conducive environment for innovation, entrepreneurship and startups that contribute to the national economy, explore potential sectors for youth employment in the future, and build a cultural and entertainment ecosystem for youth to enhance their quality of life,’ MoE stated.
