Muscat – The Ministry of Social Development and Oman LNG signed five agreements worth RO300,000 on Wednesday. The agreements include financing a number of projects and initiatives that are instrumental in improving people’s lives and addressing their needs.

The first agreement will see Oman LNG financing a ‘Solar Energy’ initiative, in which funding will be provided to supply solar panels to 32 Omani Women’s Association buildings across the country.

Through this agreement, the company also aims to support a number of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to supply and install these solar panels.

The second agreement involves supporting leadership and management training programmes for various Omani Women’s Associations. Such programmes will provide training opportunities for 195 women in various fields, including leadership, innovation, financial management, and in media and technology fields.

The third agreement involves financing a ‘We are with you’ campaign, which targets diabetic children from low-income and social security families.

The fourth agreement encapsulates funding the purchase of modern equipment for Al Noor Association for the Blind in Dakhliyah governorate.

The equipment includes modern audio and braille devices to facilitate a better learning environment for visually impaired students in higher education institutions and simplify the storage of information and conversion of files in braille.

The fifth agreement pertains to the establishment of a pilot project to support livestock breeders in South Sharqiyah governorate through the Omani Agricultural Association.

The project is predicted to provide the latest innovative agricultural procedures, and thus
supports the country’s vision of achieving self-sufficiency and reducing the increasing cost of
fodder.

The project will produce green fodder with high nutritional value at low cost whilst maintaining sustainability.

Commenting on the agreements, Dr Amor al Matani, CEO of Oman LNG Development Foundation, said, “We are delighted to sign these agreements with the Ministry of Social Development. Since its inception, Oman LNG, through its Development Foundation, has placed great emphasis on supporting various social development programmes and initiatives for the benefit of the community.

“The agreements signed today confirm our consistent efforts to serve the community, and meet its expectations and aspirations.”
