Muscat – H E Dr Laila Ahmed al Najjar, Minister of Social Development, has announced that a sum of RO11mn has been distributed among 11,000 families that suffered direct impact of the recent tropical condition – cycle Shaheen. The cash came from the cyclone-related emergency relief aid.
The minister made the statement during an interview for the Economic Forum Programme on Radio Sultanate of Oman. She explained that disaster relief aid continues to be disbursed in some wilayats alongside other measures addressing tenancy and inheritance issues.
H E Dr Laila pointed out that her ministry has developed services for society, and acts as an institutional supervisor and active partner in development and empowerment. The ministry’s mission is to respond to the needs of families and the needy segment, with emphasis on training and troubleshooting through public awareness on domestic and global concerns, she said.
H E Dr Laila added that the ministry seeks to keep pace with the goals of Oman Vision 2040, notably the overall objective of realising welfare for all segments of society.
