Over 15,000 register for Grade I for 2022/2023 session


Muscat – More than 15,000 students have registered with the Ministry of Education (MoE) for enrolment in Grade I in public schools for the academic year 2022/2023.

According to statistics released by the ministry, 15,241 students have registered so far. The number of students expected to enrol is approximately 80,000.

The last date for registration is December 30 this year. ‘Registration will not be allowed thereafter,’ the ministry stated.

The MoE opened registration for Grade 1 in government schools on October 28, 2021, and has set several conditions.

Only children born in the period between September 1, 2015, and December 31, 2016, can register. Applications for registration should be submitted through the sultanate’s official educational portal –

Omani children must have a civil number on the birth certificate, while children of residents must have a valid resident card of the sultanate.

Following registration in the website, parents must report to the school with the child and furnish his/her medical records.

In case of chronic diseases or disabilities, a medical report from an accredited health institution must be furnished.
