Children above 5 to get COVID-19 jabs

Muscat – The Supreme Committee tasked with dealing with the impact of COVID-19 has approved vaccination of five-to-11 year old children starting from the first week of November.

The committee has also endorsed the administration of a third dose of COVID-19 vaccine to those who are highly vulnerable to the disease. The Ministry of Health will soon announce the target segment and the approved plan.

The committee decided to allow all students of grades 5-11 to receive hundred per cent direct education in all schools starting November.

The Supreme Committee also decided to allow reopening of traditional markets, including auctions, habta markets like pre-Eid souqs and open air markets, with a commitment to wearing masks, avoiding crowding at sales sites and adhering to physical distancing. It stressed the need to adhere to all decisions with no leniency in following the precautionary measures.
