73% of target population fully vaccinated

Muscat – The Ministry of Health (MoH) on Monday said 73 per cent of the target population has been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 in the country, while 86 per cent have received at least one dose of vaccine.

In a statement, MoH said, ‘As many as 3,065,137 individuals, or 86 per cent of the target population, have received a single dose of COVID-19 vaccine. The number of people vaccinated with two doses is more than 2,614,000, or 73 per cent,’ MoH added.

The nationwide vaccination drive has been successful in controlling the spread of COVID-19. On Monday, MoH recorded zero deaths and 20 new cases in a 24-hour period. The total number of deaths reported in the country now stands at 4,110.

Two patients were admitted to hospitals in the last 24 hours accounting for a total of ten in health institutions, including two in intensive care units.

MoH announced on Monday that it will start vaccinating school students older than 12 years without pre-registration. ‘School students 12 years and older do not need to per-register starting Tuesday, October 26, to Thursday, October 28.’
