Aid convoy to tour cyclone-affected areas today

Muscat – Ahd Foundation – a frontrunner in Oman’s charity missions – is organising an aid distribution programme on Sunday, coinciding with Omani Women’s Day that falls on October 17 every year.

According to a press statement, the foundation, which firmly believes in the importance of social and humanitarian work, “will organise an aid convoy ‘Ahd al Khair’ reflecting the foundations’ concern for society”.

It aims to provide women and children in the cyclone-affected areas with emergency requirements, the statement added.

The convoy will have collection points, through which the staff of Ahd Foundation, female representatives from women associations, volunteers from different units of the Royal Court Affairs and civil associations will distribute aid items and supplies to the targeted groups of females and children in the affected wilayats.

‘With an aim to cover all the affected wilayats, the convoy will depart from Muscat governorate. It will continue to wilayat of Mussanah in South Batinah, and Suwaiq, Khabourah and Saham in North Batinah governorate. It will also go to the wilayat of Ibri in Dhahirah governorate,’ the statement said.

The Honorable Lady is keen to activate the role of Omani women’s associations throughout the sultanate by participating in the ‘Ahd al Khair’ convoy.

She affirms that every hand is needed in times of crisis where the efforts of all sectors are essential.
