Muscat – H E Sayyid Badr Hamad al Busaidi, Foreign Minister, on Sunday received Tim Lenderking, US Special Envoy of the United States for Yemen, and Hans Grundberg, the United Nations Special Envoy for Yemen, who are on a visit to the sultanate.
The meeting reviewed the latest developments in Yemen and exerted efforts for ending the war in the impoverished country.
Views were also exchanged on the efforts made to secure a comprehensive and permanent ceasefire by all parties, facilitate the flow of humanitarian supplies and enter into a political process that achieves the aspirations of the Yemeni people towards security, stability and national unity.
The meeting was also attended by H E Sheikh Khalifa Ali al Harthy, Undersecretary for Diplomatic Affairs in the Foreign Ministry, besides other officials from the Foreign Ministry, and H E Leslie M Tsou, the US Ambassador to the sultanate.
The newly appointed UN envoy for Yemen is on a trip to the region and arrived in Muscat after concluding his visit to Riyadh on Friday.
During his visit he met the top leaders of Yemen including President Abd Rabbo Mansour Hadi, Vice President Ali Mohsen Saleh al Ahmar, Prime Minister Maeen Abdul Malik and Foreign Minister Ahmed bin Mubarak.
During his meeting on Thursday with President Hadi, Grundberg underlined his intention to listen to all parties for an inclusive and comprehensive political settlement.
