Muscat – The World Health Organization’s (WHO) Director General on Saturday lauded the ‘efficient’ vaccination drive conducted by the sultanate in its fight against COVID-19 that saw over 45 per cent of the target population getting vaccinated in a ‘smooth’ process.
On his arrival in Muscat, Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus was received by H E Dr Ahmed bin Mohammed al Sa’eedi, Minister of Health, on Saturday as part of his official visit to Oman as the country fights the pandemic through a systematic inoculation campaign.
Dr Tedros first visited the vaccination centre at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Center – to check on the progress of the vaccination in Oman.
“‘Glad to be in Oman! I thank COVID-19 vaccinators for walking me through the vaccination process at the Oman Convention Centre, from storage, where 3+ million doses have been received so far, to the moment when vaccines are given. I congratulate Oman for already reaching the 40 per cent vaccination target,” he tweeted.
“I also congratulate Oman, for organising COVID-19 vaccination drive so efficiently, and for making sure that it is a smooth experience for everyone.” Dr Tedros and H E Sa’eedi reviewed the epidemiological situation in the sultanate and the country’s continuous efforts to deal with the pandemic.
