‘Oman is known for rejection of all forms of extremism’

Bologna, Italy – Represented by the Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs, the sultanate on Tuesday took part in the 8th Forum on Religious Values 2021, held in Bologna, Italy.

The Omani delegation was headed by Dr Mohammed Said al Maamari, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs.

Dr Maamari underscored the attention accorded by His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik to human values, the need for peace, dialogue and coexistence among nations, countries and communities.


He pointed out that over the years the sultanate has achieved strong presence in the global peace arenas, working diligently to resolve problems and disputes through dialogue and diplomatic means.

“Oman is known for its rejection of all forms of extremism, violence and hatred,” he said.

He added that Oman occupies a high position in the scale of peace and security and that the sultanate has had a clean record in the international extremism and terrorism index.


“On top of this, Oman took tangible steps to realise advanced positions in the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs 2030),” said Dr Maamari.

He explained that Oman Vision 2040 lays emphasis on human, ethical and religious aspects, which constitute priorities in the concept of citizenship, heritage and national culture.
Oman Vision 2040 advocates the establishment of a globally sound society that is proud of its identity.

Dr Maamari participated in a workshop on youth affairs, held on the sidelines of the forum, which brought together a large number of officials from different countries of the world.
The workshop encouraged cooperation, the exchange of views and partnership to promote global dialogue and peace.
