Muscat – More than 67,000 teachers and administrative staff will return to schools in Oman on Sunday as the new academic year begins.
‘The supervisors, members of the administrative and teaching bodies, and support staff in schools across Oman will start the new academic year (2021/ 2022) from September 12. The academic year will begin adhering to all precautionary measures taken by the Ministry of Education (MoE) in cooperation with the Ministry of Health,’ stated Oman News Agency (ONA).
‘Tremendous efforts are being made to create a healthy and safe environment in schools to limit the spread of COVID-19,’ the MoE said.
The number of teachers this year in government schools will reach 56,569, which includes 17,881 male and 38,688 female teachers, accounting for an Omanisation rate of 84.8 per cent. The number of administrators and technicians is estimated at 10,878, with an Omanisation rate of 99.8 per cent.
As for the teachers in special education schools, 57 are male and 250 females, with an Omanisation rate of 90.6 per cent.
The total number of administrators in such schools, is 69 at an Omanisation rate of 85.5 per cent. The MoE appointed 2,954 teachers recently for the new academic year.
