Muscat – Omani photographer Ahmed bin Sulaiman al Sa’eedi won an international award recently when he bagged the second place in the 2021 Harvest Seasons competition organised by Wameed Photographic Group in Saudi Arabia.
Hailing from the wilayat of Saham, Sa’eedi won the silver award in the competition among a wide participation of photographers from different Arab countries who took part with 47 pictures.
“My photograph which depicts a man sorting dates after the harvest process, preparing for the boiling process bagged the second prize. The competition aimed at shedding light on the harvest seasons, farm products and the natural landscape,” Sa’eedi said.
“I love taking photos of humans, especially as and when people are doing something. Every year, I try to catch a glimpse of the date harvest season and this year, I got hold of an old man doing the sorting of dates just after harvest. I am glad the competition came at the right time,” he added.
Sa’eedi, who is a full-time photographer at the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, said he uses his weekends to move around the interior regions to take photos.
Sa’eedi said the award will encourage him to continue to capture Oman’s natural beauty in photographs and the various facets of human life.
