The popular ride-hailing app OTaxi has started a novel idea in support of the national vaccination drive. People in need of free ride to the vaccination centre in Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre can book one from the OTaxi app from Sept 1.
OTaxi company said, ‘In an effort to confront the coronanavirus, we are pleased to announce that OTaxi will provide free trips to the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre to get the vaccine, starting from September 1.’
‘To get the free service use the code: VACCINE21.’
“It is a very expensive step for us but we want to make a difference in supporting the ongoing vaccination drive, which will help us in fighting the pandemic,” said Harith al Maqbali, CEO of OTaxi.
Earlier in the month, OTaxi became the first company to be granted a licence to offer taxi services in private cars in Musandam governorate.
The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology issued a notice on the decision taken with the objective of improving public transport, stimulating tourism and boosting commercial activities in Musandam.
Maqbali earlier revealed that the company has been permitted to offer its ride-hailing service in private cars in Masirah and Halaniyat Islands, too. “We intend to launch services there in 2022.” The company currently has 1,800 active drivers in the sultanate, spread across all major cities.
