Free vaccination for barbers, beauty salon staff and other low-wage earners starts in Muscat
The Ministry of Interior, in cooperation with the Ministry of Health (MoH), has started a nationwide campaign to vaccinate low-wage earning expatriates.
“In every wilayat, respective municipality teams will manage camps for free vaccination of barbers, beauty salon staff and other low-wage earners,” an MoH official.
Responding to the announcement, a barber in Wadi Adai said, “Officials came and gave us free vaccination coupons and asked us to go to Sablat Muttrah for vaccination. I am happy that I will get free vaccination.”
Muscat Daily met an expatriate couple in Sablat Muttrah who had come for free vaccination. “A friend told us about the free vaccination drive here and we were lucky to get the coupons on Sunday. So, here we are getting the vaccine.”
The General Directorate of Health Services tweeted on Monday, ‘The DGHS in Muscat Governorate, in cooperation with Muscat Municipality, started immunising unskilled expatriate workers against COVID-19 in two locations – Sablat Muttrah, in the wilayat of Muttrah, and Sharadi in the wilayat of Seeb. This is part of the National Immunisation Campaign against COVID-19.”
