The Minister of Heritage and Tourism has issued a ministerial decision to form the Board of Directors of the Historical Association of Oman.
The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism said, ‘H E Salim bin Mohammed al Mahrouqi, Minister of Heritage and Tourism, issued a ministerial decision to form the Board of Directors of Historical Association of Oman, which is specialised in studying and disseminating knowledge on Oman’s heritage, history and civilisation, and contributing to the preservation, protection and documentation of Omani heritage, organising events and communicating with relevant scientific and intellectual institutions locally and globally.’
The Historical Association of Oman will be headed by Hon Al SayyidNooh bin Mohammed al Busaidi, with the membership of Dr Ibrahim bin Yahya al Busaidi, professor of Modern and Contemporary History at Sultan Qaboos University, as vice chairman, Dr Badriyabint Muhammad al Nabhani, supervisor of history at the Ministry of Education, Dr AhlambintHammoud al Ghoreya, assistant director of the Research and Studies Department at the National Records and Archives Authority, and Ali bin Hamoud al Mahrouqi, managing director of the Journal of Omani Studies.
“The association will work to search for new topics to embody the Omani history that support the spirit of giving and national action for the renewed renaissance, considering that the Omani history and its rich heritage are an essential axis in the composition of the Omani personality,” Hon Busaidi said.
