An art exhibition called ‘Rare’ was inaugurated on Sunday evening at the Art & Soul Gallery in Water Front Mall, Qurm with 34 artists of various nationalities finding a ‘common platform’ to display their works.
Kethki Ambekar, Art & Soul Gallery director, said renowned artists in Oman shared the platform offered by the gallery where ‘they are exhibiting their rare signature pieces’.
Inaugurated by art enthusiast Abdulrauf Wood as the guest of honour, the exhibition has art pieces made in various mediums and styles ranging from watercolour, acrylic, mixed media, charcoal, sculpture, ceramic pottery, abstract, nail and string and sand painting.
“The sand painting Lion by Nikos Zarras is a unique one. The artist did not use any colour or any other material in creating the painting,” Kethki added.
A participating artist Adulmonam al Hassani, said, “I am taking part in this exhibition with my art piece called Memory. This mixed media piece expresses life in general, and I let the audience form their own interpretation of my creation.”
Sondos Khafaji, an Iraqi artist residing in Oman, said, “We were told to participate with one painting and our work should be unique. I am showcasing today ‘my soul’ and it is called The Clear Sight.
The ‘Rare’ art exhibition will run till August 14 and the gallery timing is 8am-9pm.
