The Oman Convention & Exhibition Centre witnessed a large turnout of the target group since the early morning on Tuesday as the Ministry of Health (MoH) started the COVID-19 immunisation campaign for school students from the age of 12 and above across the sultanate’s governorates.
Dr Lamia al Balushi, head of the epidemiological investigation team at the Directorate General of Health Services in Muscat, said the campaign will continue for three weeks until students are vaccinated before the start of the new school year.
She stressed the importance of the students having attained the age of 12 before the day of their immunisation.
“Those who have been in contact with COVID-19 patients or complain of symptoms of respiratory diseases must reschedule vaccination dates,” Dr Lamia said. The ongoing immunisation campaign targets 320,000 students from public and private schools from all governorates, with 90,000 students scheduled to get their doses in Muscat alone.
Meanwhile, the MoH is continuing to vaccinate those who have completed 10 weeks from the first dose.
