In light of the growing discontent among consumers regarding inflated electricity bills, the Authority for Public Services Regulation (APSR) has directed all electricity distribution and supply companies not to cut off electricity supply of any subscriber.
The authority further asked the distribution companies to restore the connections of those whose services have already been disconnected.
The authority has urged subscribers to submit their complaints when the service is cut off or any other matter to the offices of licensed companies in governorates or its call centres.
Complying with the APSR’s order, Muscat Electricity Distribution Company, Majan Electricity Company, Mazoon Electricity Company, and Dhofar Integrated Services Company confirmed that they had implemented the directives of the authority not to disconnect the electricity supply due tothe accumulation of dues of subscribers.
In view of the inflated bills, the Nama Group said that it has extended the period for updating subscriber data until the end of August. The Nama Group called on subscribers to update their data through the websites of the electricity companies, which will ‘ensure application of relevant tariff’.
