The Ministry of Education (MoE) announced winners of the Junior Developers – Smart Applications Award for 2020-2021 via a virtual event recently.

The first place was claimed by Arab Gulf Country Culture App developed by Khadija bint Salim al Adawiyah from Aisha al Riyamiyah School for Basic Education (Grade 10-12) in Dakhliyah governorate. The app enables a better understanding of Arab culture in Gulf Cooperation Council states through interesting stories and information all packaged in a user-friendly way.

Following the announcement, Khadija said, “I felt proud when I heard the news of my win. I faced numerous programming challenges in developing the final application for the competition.”

The app offers reading material and video content on the culture of the Gulf states from fanack.com. Users can explore sites in the six countries displayed on a map. Information provided include how to reach there, details about the heads of state, and fun quizzes to test users’ knowledge.
